First day of the new year, and I'm already running behind.

Snowflake Challenge, Day 1

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.

The Sin in Your Grin (and the Shape of Your Mouth) [Harry Potter; Sirius/Snape, Remus/Sirius, adult]

Whatever I Want (Whatever That Is) [Harry Potter; Regulus/Remus, adult]

His Was the Fury [Game of Thrones; Robert, Ned, Jon Arryn, gen]

lovers in the backseat [Game of Thrones; Jon/Ygritte, adult]

The fic I wrote for [personal profile] rs_small_gifts has been posted:

The Great Christmas Biscuit Misunderstanding of 1977 [Remus/Sirius, MWPP, adult]
In which Sirius just wants a bit of fun, James fancies himself awfully clever, Peter won't be brewing any potions, and Remus would rather not get shouted at by McGonagall again, thank you very much.

Also, there's a Holiday Love Meme going on. I threw my name in the hat here.

The stockings are up at [community profile] fandom_stocking. Everything is tagged by fandom. I've got my eye on a couple things, but I haven't started anything yet.

If you've friended me at Dreamwidth and I haven't friended you back, drop me a comment. I got a bunch of notifications at once, and I might've lost someone in the shuffle.

cut for a brief and faintly ridiculous conversation about king stannis baratheon, first in my heart )

In other news, the masterlist for [livejournal.com profile] springtime_gen is up, so I can confess to writing Here I Dreamt I Was an Architect [Minerva, ensemble, PG] for the incomparable [personal profile] lyras. I was quite honestly shocked at the amount of feedback it received. ♥♥♥♥♥♥

I don't remember if I ever linked my gift, which was amazing, so here it is again: What it takes [Trio & DA, PG13], which awesomely enough, was written by [personal profile] lyras. About halfway through it, I suspected [personal profile] lyras had written it, but then I talked myself out of it, since I had written for her. It's wonderful, so check it out if you have a chance.

monthly round up

I updated my Fic Masterlist with everything I posted here in April.

Harry Potter fanfic:

A Life Less Ordinary
Sirius, MWPP | PG13 | ~4,000 words

A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones fanfic:

tell me what to swallow
Jon/Catelyn | NC17 | ~1,100

carve your heart
Brandon/Lyanna | NC17 | ~1,000 words

empty like the ocean
Robb/Theon | NC17 | ~1,400 words

lots and lots more )

The amount of fic I've written in the last month outweighs what I've written in the last year. Unemployment doesn't hurt. I've got nothing but time.

I'm currently working on three different fics right now, none of which are for any of my actual deadlines. Two of them are for [livejournal.com profile] asoiafkinkmeme, and all of them are faintly ridiculous. I don't even know anymore.

[livejournal.com profile] asoiafkinkmeme has been open for a week, and we've already got over 250 fills. If you're looking for something to read, but don't feel like wading through all the comments, the fills are bookmarked on pinboard.

things and stuff.

Well, I wrote a Remix Madness story last night. I like it, but I'm kind of worried it's one of those remixes that won't make a lot of sense unless you've read the original. Nothing for it, though -- the original story is charming, but it has a really tight Character A POV, and I couldn't work everything into Character B's side of the story without turning him into a creeping creeper who creeps, particularly on Character A's private conversations.

I've been eyeballing the list again, because I would like to write another one, but I'm not finding a fandom that speaks to me. It probably doesn't seem like it, with all the Game of Thrones stuff that's been going on around here lately, but I've actually written a pile of HP fics in the last month or so, they're just all tied up in fests and exchanges.

I was just reading this post by [personal profile] musesfool about writing pinch-hits. She's totally right -- the best way to write a good story with a quick turn around is to use a structure or framework you can easily slot a story into, something you already know works for you as a narrative device, instead of trying to create something completely out of thin air. It's cracking me up though, because I keep thinking about the pinch-hit I wrote for [livejournal.com profile] go_exchange in 2005. My recipient wanted a crossover, so I sat down with the intention to write something like Five Times Aziraphale and Crowley Never Showed Up At Hogwarts and Disrupted the Natural Order of Things, but what I got was 22,000 words of a second apocalypse, with bonus points for Harry Potter as the new antichrist. WHATEVER, BRAIN.

Onward to the AO3 meme, last seen by way of [personal profile] bethbethbeth:

  1. Sins of the Father - Harry/Sirius, NC17 - 969
  2. heart tree - Jon/Robb, PG - 770
  3. The King Wants - Robb/Theon, NC17 - 691
  4. dew in the grass (the garden that you planted) - Jon/Robb, NC17 - 568
  5. the archer's bows have broken - Robb/Theon, NC17 - 540
  6. Once More With Feeling - Aziraphale/Crowley, PG13 - 455
  7. restless - Robb/Theon, PG - 445
  8. peer pressure - Remus/Sirius, PG - 414
  9. A Means to an End - Ned/Cersei, R - 407
    Black Velvet - Remus/Sirius, NC17 - 407
  10. but first we live - Jon/Val, R - 380
    An Illustrated Guide - Frank/Gerard, NC17 - 380

not quite deep thoughts )

Speaking of AO3, the OTW is hosting an online survey about AO3 and some of their other fannish projects.

I accidentally took a really long nap in the middle of the afternoon, and now I can't sleep UGH.

I've got about seven tabs open at the You Win or You Die Kink Meme. Specifically, I've been eyeballing this fantastic Jon/Robb/Jeyne prompt. I haven't started on it yet, mainly because in my head it's the kind of shameless filth that could strip the paint off the walls, and I just can't write that kind of stuff when everyone else in this house is awake. My mother (in particular) seems to know somehow, and will choose that moment to stand in my doorway and talk about the laundry for twenty minutes.

Speaking of Game of Thrones, I haven't seen the new episode yet. I talked to [personal profile] themostepotente on the phone right after she watched it, and she told me it was short on a lot of the things I'm particularly keen on -- no Robb, no Catelyn, very little Jon and Sam. I spent some of today reading other people's write ups about it, and I've gathered two things; Gwendoline Christie is an utterly flawless Brienne, and the Theon bits will probably hurt large portions of my soul.

in which i talk about my boyfriend theon greyjoy, to absolutely no one's surprise, i'm pretty sure. also, long opinions are long )

I told you long opinions are long. WTF, BRAIN.

In other news, I finally finished my Remix. Just under the wire, and I managed to crank out something I'm actually happy with. I'm pretty sure that obvious anonymous fic will be obvious, but my general state of anonfail at fic exchanges is a chronic condition.

If you missed Remix signups and would still like to participate, check out the opt-in post for Remix Madness.

Also, if you've friended me on Pottermore, drop me a comment and let me know who you are, so I can get nicknames sorted.

That 'montly roundup' meme has been going around, which made me realize I hadn't really updated my masterlist since I started writing again. I did add in my Harry Potter fics before I signed up for Remix, in case my remixer really, really wanted to rewrite 16,000 words of Sirius, Snape, and Remus being miserable, but I left everything else to languish.

Thusly, my quarterly review, since I procrastinate:

Harry Potter:

The Sin in Your Grin (and the Shape of Your Mouth)
The Order needed Sirius, but he doubted they'd mourn him very long when he finally disappeared.
Sirus/Snape, Remus/Sirius | NC17 | ~16,000 words

Obsessive (Compulsive)
Harry dreams in red and white
Harry/Draco | NC17 | ~6,700 words

more harry potter, ncis, a song of ice and fire/game of thrones, american gods, good omens, and bandom )

I keep telling myself I'm not signing up for anymore fests, but that was before I saw this post at [livejournal.com profile] zombi_fic_ation! It would totally give me an excuse to write that Game of Thrones Others Invasion AU I've been plotting in the back of my head since forever. When the season two trailers first came out, everyone kept talking about the Cold Winds Are Rising one, and how Stannis' voice gave them the chills. Look, Stannis' voice is glorious, but what really made me shiver was the three blasts of the horn at the end. FROZEN ZOMBIES.

Well, wish me luck. I'm going to try and find something to eat for lunch.

Firstly, fic:

the ghost between your hands and mouth by [livejournal.com profile] lookinglassgirl [Katinss, Peeta, PG]

I haven't read much Hunger Games fic yet, because I just haven't had the time, but I somehow managed to find this yesterday, and it is fantastic. Beautifully stark and understated.

And now, art recs! All A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones, and all distressingly work safe:

Jon Snow and Ghost by [personal profile] daviddeb [Jon]

Jon Snow by [personal profile] darkfong [Jon, Ghost]

Robb Stark and Grey Wind by [personal profile] daviddeb [Robb]

King in the North [personal profile] nami86 [Robb]

Ever Smiling by [personal profile] sorskc [Theon]

Winterfell Bath by [personal profile] mary-chan [Theon/Jeyne]

I think not, Greyjoy by [personal profile] gold-seven [Jon, Theon]

Jon Snow by [personal profile] darkfong [Jon, Ghost]

Jaime Lannister by [personal profile] noiry [Jaime]

Arya of House Stark by [personal profile] jekaa [Arya]

Lyanna Stark by [personal profile] dreambeing. [Lyanna]

Lord Robert Baratheon by [personal profile] awynt. [Robert]

King Robert by [personal profile] acazigot. [Robert]

While I have you here, look at the cutest .gif in the history of .gifs:

robb stark or gtfo )

I need to write some fic and also find a job, so of course I've spent most of the morning staring at Tumblr and trying to make a text icon that says jon snow knows nothing/except where to put it. Sadly, my photoshop skills fail terribly.

Remix fic has hit a snag. I need the current conversation to take a particular direction, but I can't seem to do it in a way that a) isn't bafflingly long-winded, or b) doesn't read something like Holy change of subject, Batman! or Look, a velociraptor!

xylodemon: (Default)
I keep telling myself I'm done with the GoT Kink Meme, but I also keep finding prompts that demand my attention. Like this Robb/Theon tattoo!kink prompt that has been haunting my sleep. I want this fic in my life. Badly. At this point, I think I haven't written it because I don't trust my own brain. Instead of shameless inkporn, I'd probably end up with something along the lines of my 4,000 word fill with not too much steamy porn but a lot of pining, fapping, and creepy internal monologues about possession (I'm looking at you, Robb); let me show you it.

Speaking of Game of Thrones, [livejournal.com profile] workswithwords is hosting a Robert's Rebellion comment ficathon, for all your pre-canon character/shipping needs. Which, yes. As much as I love reading and writing about the younger characters, there is also a gaping hole in my life where all the Ned/Catelyn first time/early marriage/curtain fic should be.

Also, sign-ups for the next [livejournal.com profile] got_exchange are open until next Sunday. I'm slowly bullying [personal profile] themostepotente into doing it.

As far as the Game of Thrones tv show goes, season two starts tonight, and I'm still... divided. I'm upset that I won't be able to watch it as it airs, because season one was amazing, but at the same time, I'm kind of relieved that I can put off watching Theon destroy my soul for another year. I was telling [personal profile] themostepotente on the phone last night1 that I recently looked at some screencaps from the season two trailers and featurettes, and there was one that nearly killed me, because it pinpointed the exact moment when the tv!fandom will turn on Theon like a pack of cannibals.

I finally got my [personal profile] hp_beholder fic sorted, two days after the deadline. I now need to worry about [livejournal.com profile] springtime_gen and Remix.

The last two years I did remix, I ended up with a finished product I actually liked, but I had a really hard time getting there. This time, my Remix fic is practically writing itself, which is awesome, because I'm pretty sure my [livejournal.com profile] springtime_gen fic wants me to die in a fire. Which is weird, because my assignment is more or less exactly what I asked for.

[livejournal.com profile] frontbits is coming over shortly. I do hope she brings tacos.

1 I probably should have some kind of macro/keyboard shortcut for this phrase, at this point.

now and always.

I am currently writing three different fics for three different fic fests. Only, all three of them are... stalled. I know where I want the stories to go, but I can't quite seem to get there, so I've been spending a lot of time staring at wordpad documents and shouting things like and then they all had sex or and then they had this awkward yet meaningful conversation or and then this [insert plot-point here] happened. It's making me want to punch my monitor, because my deadlines, they are looming.

Usually when this happens, I sigh loudly and have a drink, and then I write a quick ficlet in another pairing or fandom just to get the machinery turning again. I've spent the last couple of days creeping on the Game of Thrones Kink Meme, which a) hasn't really helped, and b) has completely upset my ASoIaF/GoT shipping sensibilities. I had intended to crank out a fill for, like, Jon/Robb godswood blowjobs; instead I am slowly being incepted into shipping Robb/Theon -- which I never planned on, because that way lies madness and angst -- because all the Robb/Theon prompts are glorious and perverted and wrong

speaking of theon greyjoy (here be both capslocks and book spoilers) )

Someone needs to take the internet away from me. I have a house to clean and fic to write and a new job to find, but I keep getting distracted by all the shiny things the internet has to offer, like the fuckyeahkitharington Tumblr, or the Game of Thrones kink meme. There are still a lot of awesome prompts open -- I seriously have about six comment tabs open, so I can come back to them once I've finished all the stuff I should be writing -- so someone should get over there and write one of the Margaery/Sansa prompts so I don't have to.

I did crank out about a thousand words of Ned Stark/Cersei Lannister cunnilingus smut last night, where Ned is plotting against her while he's doing it, and it's set in the godswood at King's Landing, because I am ridiculous, and godswoods are apparently my Game of Thrones answer to broom cupboards.

Ugh. I need to do my laundry and drive my mother to the grocery store, and stop eyeballing this Jon/Theon prompt for Robb!related hatesex.
xylodemon: (Default)
I was thinking earlier that fandom needs more ridiculous Harry/Draco accidental marriage fics. A botched potion starts it, or a weirdly rebounded spell, or maybe Draco says a combination of words that happens to be an ancient pureblood mating ritual that dates back to the conquest of Gaul. However it happens, Wizarding law also requires that married couples cohabitate, so they end up living in Draco's huge art deco flat, and Harry is mostly stoic about the whole thing, but Draco complains a lot, possibly because Harry is the messiest person alive, and when they finally do have sex it's kind of awkward and laughable, and Draco still complains a lot, because Harry is heavy, and sweaty, and so on.

I got my Remix/Redux assignment last night! I was a little nervous at first, because I'm not all that familiar with my Remixee, but I scrolled through her fic list, and she's definitely given me enough to work with. I glanced at two or three things I really, really like, so now I'm more excitedly optimistic. I just need to figure out how I'm going to go about things. In 2007 I took a shorter piece and spun it into something longer, and in 2008 I did that and I shifted the POV, which ended up being a lot of fun for me, because the original ficlet was about 400 adorable words of Lily shouting at James for pulling a prank on her, so I got to pull the whole MWPP ensemble into it, and sketch the prank out from the beginning.

I also like what [personal profile] laurificus did when she remixed A Marauder's Map a few years back -- she took one of the vignettes and expanded it into an entire fic, which was awesome to read, because it put a whole new perspective on the scene, and it also had more Regulus than my original version, and I firmly believe everything should have more Regulus.

While we're on the subject:

Dear Remixer,

I would like to start out by apologizing for the rather unwieldly state of my masterlist. I've written a ton of Harry Potter fics over the last eight years, so that section can be a lot to look at all at once. Everything is also available at AO3, where you can at least sort through all of it by pairing, or something.

I would also like to apologize for my obvious and frankly worrying broom cupboard fetish, and the fact that all my MWPP fics are really about Sirius, even the ones that weren't meant to be.

That being said, feel free to do whatever you like! ♥

Well. Onward to my [personal profile] hp_beholder. I'm going to finish it today, God willing and the creek don't rise, and all that.

take it off.

This post on Pete Wentz's blog pretty much sums up my life for the last week. I quit my job last Sunday1, and since then I cannot be persuaded to leave the house with a cattleprod. What's that, we need groceries? Call Pink Dot. Son needs a ride home from the mall? Take the bus. Friends are going to the movies? I'll wait for the DVD.

Since I have you here, allow me to recommend some things I read/looked at this morning:

A Trinket, A Trifle by [personal profile] thistlerose. [Hunger Games; Effie Trinket, Mrs. Everdeen, gen]

This is very well done. It nicely explores one of my pet theories about Effie -- that over the years, she eventually began to realize that the Games were wrong on some level, maybe because losing her tributes every year started to wear her down, but she chose not to examine it too closely, because it was easier that way, because she was from the Capitol and so much of her daily life was tied up in the Games.

This also manages to make Mrs. Everdeen slightly sympathetic, something I'd never thought I'd say in a million years.

Denude by [personal profile] faithwood. [Harry Potter; Harry/Draco, adult]

Everything about this is delightful -- the atmosphere, the imagery, the different things and ideas that turn Harry on, the whole idea that their mutual obsession is a naked, obvious thing reaching an inevitable conclusion.

Also, smoking hot.

And now for some art -- all Harry Potter, and all distressingly work safe.

Concealed by [personal profile] achen089. [Sirius]

This House is Not a Home by [personal profile] viria13 [Sirius]

Lupin by [personal profile] ullakko. [Remus]

The Marauders by [personal profile] jackpot-84 [Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, Prongs]

Spinner's End by [personal profile] ullakko. [Snape, Bellatrix, Narcissa]

I also found this gorgeous piece of Harry/Draco art on the fuckyeah-harrypotterfanart Tumblr, but I can't figure out who drew it because of reblog drift. Alas. [ETA:] [personal profile] faithwood to the rescue! It's an older piece by [livejournal.com profile] reallycorking -- which, yeah. I should've know, based on how pretty it is.

So, my [personal profile] hp_beholder fic hates me like I murdered its mother in cold blood.

cut at the dotted line )

Speaking of the Hunger Games, where is all the Haymitch/Effie fic? Seriously. I'd read the hell out of that.

I was telling [personal profile] themostepotente on the phone last night that I'd also read the hell out of some Robert Baratheon/Ned Stark, set right after Robert wins the Iron Throne, and Robert is all loud and enthusiastic about it, and Ned really is kind of into it, but admitting that wouldn't be honorable, or whatever, so on the inside he's like oh fuck, yes Robert, harder, but on the outside he's all *sigh* whatever pleases you, My Grace.

1 It's a ridiculous, super tl;dr story. Suffice to say I did everyone involved a favor, including myself.

First of all: YOU GUYS. <3

I just wanted to thank everyone who commented to the post I made about my dad. He died almost a year ago (Feb 22), and I've reached a point where I'm mostly okay, unless I'm not okay, and then I'm very, very not okay. I was going to answer them individually, but I was terrified I'd start crying again. Just know they were exactly what I needed, exactly when I needed it. ♥♥♥♥♥!!!

The problem with writing again after such a long break is that I suddenly want to write ALL THE THINGS. I just finished [livejournal.com profile] dysfuncentine and [livejournal.com profile] sirius_black, and I've got assignments for both [personal profile] hp_beholder and [livejournal.com profile] springtime_gen, and yet I'm still creeping the claims posts of various prompt fests, looking for something that needs to be written.

Speaking of need -- the Harry Potter fandom absolutely requires an OotP AU where Regulus has survived and ends up working for the Order.

I'm thinking it would start early in the book's timeline, maybe right after Harry and Sirius' bittersauce conversation about the Black Family Tree. Dumbledore shows up to 12GP one night, ridiculously late, because Dumbledore is a badass and manners are for amateurs, and he has this guy with him, who is thin and scraggly and quiet, but who also looks a good deal like Sirius. Harry is really confused, and maybe capslocks a little, and Remus mostly looks like he's been slapped with a fish, but Sirius is completely fucking hysterical, like he nearly knocks over the kitchen table in his haste to hex Regulus back into the 70's, and there's a lot of shouting, until Dumbledore puts an end to the whole farce with a Shield Charm that's incredibly terrifying. Regulus tells everyone what happened, and his story is pretty much the same one we get from Kreacher in DH, except the part where Kreacher leaves Regulus in the cave, because Kreacher just couldn't do it, leave Master Regulus like that, with those hands, so he elf!Apparated Regulus out of there, and Regulus went into hiding, maybe with his Aunt Lucretia, or -- better yet -- Dumbledore (who's known all along, the meddlesome bastard) found a way to slip him into Azkaban, because no one would look for him there, obviously, so he was down the hall from Sirius the whole time. After that it's all awkward conversations and heavy silences, because Blacks just weren't bred to say I'm sorry, and Harry is still really confused, but he capslocks less, because Regulus is kind of nice to him.

I'm only vaguely interested in writing it, but if one of the usual suspects ([personal profile] midnitemarauder, [personal profile] snegurochka_lee, I'm looking at you) ended up writing it, I'd read the hell out of it. Bonus points if it devolves into Harry/Regulus or Harry/Regulus/Sirius.

In other news, [livejournal.com profile] dysfuncentine started posting! I'm pretty sure I won't actually anonfail this time. Okay, only half-sure.

Turns out, I've completely lost control of my [livejournal.com profile] dysfuncentine fic. About a quarter of the way in, it just started writing itself, and what's going on now isn't even on a nodding acquaintance with what I'd had in mind when I first sat down to write it. The pairing is the same, but everything else went right out the window. Suprise! emo fic for the fail. /o\

Also, it's acting like it needs more words, which... I do not have time for, since it's due tomorrow, and everything.

I went to Whole Foods for breakfast, and had some amazing cauilflower hash with onions, sliced carrots, and fake cheese. I'm not big on fake cheese as a rule, but in this it worked nicely. I'm on my third cup of coffee; hopefully I can translate the caffiene into getting this fic finished.

I got my [insanejournal.com profile] hp_beholder assignment yesterday. I'm half-excited and half-terrified, so. We'll see how that goes.

There was fic yesterday:

Obsessive (Compulsive)
Harry/Draco | NC17 | ~6,700 words
Harry dreams in red and white.

I wrote this over the weekend, after [personal profile] themostepotente said she wished I wrote any more Harry/Draco, but the strange truth is this fic had been sitting in my head since the release of HBP. I had always intended to write it sooner, but I have a lot of fics sitting in my head at any given point in time; some are louder than others, and this one had always been really quiet -- probably because by the release of HBP, I hadn't written Harry/Draco in something like two years.

Many, many thanks to [personal profile] themostepotente, [personal profile] snegurochka_lee, [personal profile] pir8fancier, and [livejournal.com profile] vlorahp, all of whom recced it. You guys are so very awesome, and I am totally overwhelmed.

In other news, work was ridiculously slow, and I spent most of the downtime daydreaming about a life where I was independently wealthy, and could just sit around all day, writing fanfic, or whatever.

I actually do like my job, for the most part. The pay isn't fantastic, but it's fairly easy duty, and my schedule is usually awesome. I just... I don't know. It feels like a bizarre combination of ennui and wanderlust. In six weeks, I'll have been there five years, which is roughly twice as long as I've ever had a particular job, and I am more and more feeling like I should go somewhere else, and do something else, or... I don't even know.

Unfortunately, I'm not really qualified to do anything else. I never finished college, so I don't have a degree. Before this, I spent fourteen years waiting tables, which is not something I'm really interested in doing again.

Well, enough emo. Time to finish up my [livejournal.com profile] dysfuncentine fic.

Dear God, someone needs to tell me that Chipotle isn't exactly diet food. Just because they offer vegan burritos doesn't mean I should eat three of them in two days. So very yummy, though. Also, kind of messy. The one I ate just now fell apart before I'd really even opened it, and I ended up holding the foil like a platter and shoveling burrito bits into my mouth by hand.

Also, the farmer's market that sets up outside my work on Saturdays now has four -- four! -- vendors who deal entirely in vegan junk food. One guy sells hummus and pita, and another guy sells various kinds of dips, sauces, and pestos, and yet another guy sells a variety of stuffed flatbreads, and also there's a girl who sells cookies, cakes, fudge, and brownies.

I can already see my plans for weight loss domination swirling down the pipes.

In other news, I somehow managed to get my [livejournal.com profile] sirius_black fic finished over the weekend!

Oddly, that wasn't how I expected things to turn out. I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] sirius_black and [livejournal.com profile] dysfuncentine a couple of days apart, and when I got the final prompts, I really thought I'd end up writing [livejournal.com profile] dysfuncentine first. My premise for that is a little more straightforward, and also the deadline for [livejournal.com profile] sirius_black is nearly four weeks longer.

As for [livejournal.com profile] dysfuncentine -- I'm about 400 words in, and it's already shitty, shitty crackfic. I'm not sure if the problem is the pairing -- it's one I haven't written in yonks -- or if the problem is just me in general. I either write ridiculous, slapstick, pie-in-the-face comedies, or the one where everyone is flat-out miserable because I've laid the angst on with a trowel. What I'm trying to do with this fic requires a delicacy I really just don't have.

My mother has the heat turned up so high I feel like I'm sitting in a furnace. UGH.

There are five fics tagged Broom Cupboard Sex at AO3. As it turns out, all five are mine. Also, I'm apparently the only user who truly believes Grimmauld Place is a character in its own right.

My favorite writing tropes and incredibly ridiculous headcanons; let me show you them.

Archiving all of my fics at AO3 has definitely been an experience. It's forced me to read over all my older stuff -- things I haven't looked at or thought about in six or seven years -- and yeah. I wrote quite a bit in 2005, but let's just say it wasn't always my best work. I've also got two or three fics that don't make a whole lot of sense outside the LiveJournal context they originally came with. Take the Harry/Mrs. Black portrait frottage fic (please) -- I didn't write that just because I got smacked with the crackfic stick that night; it was inspired by a meme that was going around LiveJournal like wildfire at the time.

I'm stuck somewhere between wanting to have everything in one place and "wow, people are actually reading the Stan Shunpike porn I wrote just to freak out [livejournal.com profile] happiestwhen."

In other news, I got my prompt assignments for [livejournal.com profile] dysfuncentine and [livejournal.com profile] sirius_black, and I am super excited about it.

Both prompts were my first choice. I've already got the pairing picked out for [livejournal.com profile] dysfuncentine, and most of the story is sketched out in a vague sort of way, mainly because it's been sitting in my head for years. The [livejournal.com profile] sirius_black fic might be a little trickier -- the prompt is loose enough that I could go two or three different ways with it, and I'm still pretty divided about it.

Oh, sleep.

Behold, my distressingly short year-in-review:

Two ficlets, neither of them very long. I also did a pinch-hit for [personal profile] rs_small_gifts, but I haven't posted it here yet, so.

Your Lucky Number Is None
American Gods | Mad Sweeney/Shadow | ~800 words | adult

Your Dreams and Your Hopeless Hair
MCR | Gerard/Lyn-Z + Bandit | ~1,500 words | gen

I debated on doing the Snowflake Challenge, mainly because I'm terrible at finishing things that have to be done everyday, as evidenced by my numerous attempts to do [personal profile] dogdaysofsummer all the way through. In the end, I like the idea behind it, so I decided to go ahead and do it, even though I'm already days behind.

I've also waffled about each fic a little, which I also plan to do with Day 2, where I rec other people's fics.

Day 1

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator.
